San Diego Spotlight: Point Loma

Are you relocating to San Diego? Moving within San Diego? Visiting San Diego?Just looking for a new area to explore? Well today I would like to focus on the beautiful neighborhood of Point Loma. Right off the 5 South, Point Loma spans from the beginning of Rosecrans all the way down to Cannon street. The tip of Point Loma houses the Point Loma Lighthouse, the farthest western tip of the United States. Whether you are looking to fish, shop, eat, or get in a good run, Point Loma has something for everyone. Liberty Station is home to the Naval Training Center as well as over 48 museums and galaries... not to mention all the restaurants!! The highly anticipated Stone Brewery and Restaurant is now open, and I highly recommend it!
If your looking for to get in touch with nature, Point Loma is known for its exquisite tide pools and marine life. Seals can be seen splashing in the water from the banks of Shelter Island. If your looking to go fishing, many half and full day charters depart from Shelter Island on a daily basis. For the more adventurous of explorers, the west bank of Point Loma is a great place to scuba dive in the kelp. Who knows you may make some new crustacean friends. In the winter, visitors can spot and watch whales from the glass enclosed observatory at the Cabrillo National Monument. The Cabrillo National Monument is home to the Point Loma Lighthouse and there you will learn the nautical history of San Diego. Your breath will be taken away by the beautiful view of downtown San Diego.
For families and weekend explorers there are many things to do in this area. In the Summer, Humprey's Concerts on the Bay hosts big name musical and comedy acts in their summer concert series. Tickets are reasonably priced and offer a fun time for all ages. For fresh local produce, the Point Loma farmers market takes place sunday mornings down at the end of rosecrans and cannon. On any given weekend you can find an event, charity fundraiser, street fair, or festival going on at the NTC promenade located in Liberty Station.
For people looking to move to Point Loma there is a wide variety of supermarkets all located within the community. Vons, Sprouts, Baron's Market, Ralph's and Grocery Outlet are all located within a 5 minute drive of each other. Target, Home Goods, CVS, and TJ Maxx offer more shopping opportunites and are also located within 5 minutes of each other. For families with children there are many different schools located in Point Loma. Point Loma High, High Tech High International, High Tech Middle Media Arts, Cabrillo Elementary, and Explorer Elementary Charter Schools are some of the schools located in the neighborhood.
So whether you are looking to move to Point Loma or just visit, there is something for everyone!
