  • Are There Sex Offenders Living Next Door In Scottsdale?

Posted Under: Quality of Life in Scottsdale  |  August 3, 2010 9:19 AM  |  1,583 views  |  No comments
The Arizona Departmentof Public Safety has a very good website to help notify you of sex offenders in your neighborhood in Arizona.

If you are moving to Arizona from another state or just re-locating this is a handy website to give you another piece of information about your new neighborhood. All you need is a zipcode to do a search.

These are "registered" sex offenders. The website goes into great depth to explain how this website should be used. Make sure you scroll down as the proximity to Public Libraries, Parks, and Schools are at the bottom of a search page.

Scottsdale is a very safe place to live. I have always felt very good about being here for over 30 years. This is just another tool to give youpeace of mind when you are moving someplace new.
  • Village Tavern - Scottsdale - Gainey Ranch

    Posted Under: Entertainment & Nightlife in Scottsdale  |  July 14, 2010 11:26 AM  |  1,720 views  |  No comments

I stopped in with a couple of friends for happy hour at Village Tavern last night.

Located in the struggling Gainey Village Shopping center at Doubletree and Scottsdale Rd. Poor little high end dining and shopping center struggling along.

VT has always held it's own as a go to place for happy hour and dinner. The mini bar plates cover a range of food. We had Fillet Mignon  sliders (2 to a plate), pulled pork nachos, and Thai shrimp (4 per plate). Overall, everything was a little too oily. Oily tastes good for a minute. The flavors were good but the oil kept me from eating the whole plate. I think these items could be made a bit lighter and still be great.

I have had the cold sampler here before and it was very good. Sometimes we just can't resist the bad stuff.

Nice pour on the Grey Goose! I think Grey Goose should have a special of it's own since there was so much gray hair! A great place to take your parents for dinner. Seriously!

I am at the cross-over age group.

Lori was our server and she was terrific! The service in general was very friendly and attentive.

VT is pretty full by 6 every night. A true neighborhood bar with a friendly staff and a regular crowd. Always fun to get there early and mess up the "regulars" seats.

They had some smooth jazz on Tuesday which was nice. Performed by a local girl An Alum from Cocopah Middle School near by. Great style and sound.

VT is worth a stop! A very nice place to relax after work.

  • The latest HOT SPOT in Scottsdale's Social Scene

    Posted Under: Entertainment & Nightlife in Scottsdale  |  July 11, 2010 9:32 AM  |  1,662 views  |  No comments

The latest spot in Scottsdale's Kierland ~ Scottsdale Quarter area. Primebar is quickly pulling patrons from the HOT , HOT, HOT Blue Martini at City North.

I am a fan of the location of  Primebar, as well as the food and prices. I am usually all about the Happy Hour. Primebar has reasonable Happy hour pricing as well as premium drink choices and quality food

We sampled the Pomegranate Martini ~ The Silly Goose ~ Margarita ~ Beer. $6 Martinis (using  top shelf +FRESH ingredients) and $3 Drafts quality from Stella, Local Four Peaks Brew, and Bud Light. The temperature and the taste were right on target for a 100+ degree Friday when we walked in. The Margarita ~ a little on the dry side , but fresh ~ Pomegranate Martini slightly sweet, cool , fresh, and had people fighting over my blueberries! Silly Goose also yummy! A little more of a citrus (grapefruit side) tart, but fresh and yummy.

The appi's that hit our table were the Steak Quesadilla ~ Calamari ~ Pulled Pork Sliders ~ and the Roasted Pepper Hummus.  We skipped the Deviled Eggs although I was curious. All for $5 each and the servings were plentiful enough for 2 or more people..

The Steak Quesadilla used very very thin slices of steak melted cheese on the inside, crispy and dry on the outside (not mushy) with a kick sauce on top, and disappeared quickly. I was too full for the pulled pork but they were overstuffed sliders only 3 to a plate but big enough to cut in half and share.

Next came the Calamari. I was not a big fan , but I have lived on Calamari on trips to Asia so it is hard to match in the US. Primebar fell a little short. It was crispy but also very oily. Everyone liked the sauces ( because they were American style) Tartar sauce and cocktail sauce! The coating was like Italian Seasoned bread crumbs. I bet Primebar can improve this dish to come up to the standards of the rest of the menu.

I am so tired of Hummus! Someone else had to try it and I must say that it was the best I have given in to in a long time. The presentations, texture and taste  were all 5 stars in my book.

I really like the flexibility of the space at Primebar and hope I can make it back after Happy Hour sometime to listen to the "live" music. An early tease may have kept me there!

Definitely GO! It is worth a trip for some quality fair and let me know how you liked it if you STAY!
  • Why do you like being a Realtor? In one sentece?

    Posted Under: Agent2Agent in Scottsdale  |  April 16, 2010 8:05 AM  |  2,019 views  |  19 comments
John Foltz, Broker extraordinaire asked this question on Facebook this morning.

John Foltz We are gathering thoughts from any interested ... You love this profession. Will you please share "Why I love being a REALTOR" - a short phrase or sentence will do. It'll be fun

After receiving the absolute most out of control screaming at last night from a client I am not sure. I have never heard the word "Realtor" used in so many special ways. Although, I know this rant was not directed at me I am sad to tell people what I do sometimes.

My client continues to be frustrated by the process of todays market and I can't blame them. Buyers having trouble buying and not willing to listen to the realities creates frustration.

So today was not the best day for me to answer the question about a job I have been doing more than 25 years.

If you have some good comments take a minute to add to John's thread. He was and is an amazing Broker and mentor during my early days at Realty Executives. He is a great advisor and advocate for our industry.

Help him give us a good day.
  • What's In A Name?

    Posted Under: Quality of Life in Scottsdale  |  April 15, 2010 7:56 AM  |  1,758 views  |  1 comment
Ilyce Glink author of Buy, Close, and Move In complimented my name today. I took a moment to explain the origin to her.

She and I both know what it is like to grow up with a unique name. I think she may have me beat though. I thought I would share my reply.

I was I was named after Grandma Lula and Grandma Etta in Missouri. Of course I hated it as a child, but have embraced it and use it as a brand now.

I don't lightly accept Loretta, Lavita, Woletta, Wooletta, or Lu as a replacement. Through social networking I have become friends with about 5 other “Luetta’s” on Facebook. They are all ages and one in Canada. I ran across a Luetta in real life at a Dr’s office no less. We both stood up when they called our name. She was older and almost passed out. It was her first time.

As I followed my mentions on twitter one day I noticed something about a murder in “Luetta Moore Park”. My maiden name was Moore! What are the chances of that? Thankfully, Luetta Moore Park is being revitalized today.

I discovered I was so not alone even though none of the magnets or tiny license plates had my name on them.
