Texas Health Resources is developing plans for “an integrated health campus†on a 30-acre site at the northwest corner of Crown Point Lane and Interstate 20 in Willow Park.
Plans for the Parker County facility have not yet been approved by the THR System board of directors, but “are highly likely to go before the board in the near future,†a THR spokesman told the Business Press.
Initially, the facility is expected to look a lot like, Texas Health Harris Methodist Outpatient Center Burleson, an outpatient facility located on an 8-acre site that also includes a 24-hour emergency department, a fitness center, advanced imaging services, laboratory services and physicians’ offices. That integrated health campus serves the Burleson, Joshua and Crowley markets.
But, because of the size of the campus, THR Burleson is not likely to grow into a full-service hospital, said Wendell Watson, corporate director of public relations for the THR System.
“Thirty acres is a good-size site, so we can do more with it, our board just hasn’t decided exactly what yet,†Watson said.
Final plans for the initial facility in Willow Park will likely be presented to the hospital system board for approval in the next couple of months, Watson added.
Speculation is that the site will eventually include a 40-bed in-patient hospital, according to preliminary plans presented at a meeting of the Willow Park City Council and planning and zoning commission members in late November.
“We are still evaluating the best use of that site,†Watson said. “We have real estate in a lot of different places in North Texas, and it is premature to say what’s next on the agenda…We are very interested in brining medical services to fast-growing communities without close access to health care.â€
The nearest THR hospital to Willow Park is Texas Health Harris Methodist in downtown Fort Worth, followed by Texas Health Harris Southwest, Watson noted.
