Texas Ranger fans set new world record

Reliant Energy, Rangers fans set world record for wearing sunglasses at night

More than 400 Texas baseball fans helped officially set a new world record for the “Most People Wearing Sunglasses … in the Dark” at the Rangers-Astros game at the Ballpark in Arlington June 21.
The stunt was part of a promotion for Reliant Energy’s new Solar Solutions renewable energy program.
Reliant provided sunglasses to fans as they arrived for the game. Fans donned their sunglasses at the end of the sixth inning to represent the official first day of summer. The crowd erupted in cheers as they became part of history after receiving the official certified world record from Guinness World Records.
“Shortly before 9 p.m. the new world record was officially set,” announced certified Guinness World Records Adjudicator Danny Girton Jr. “We are pleased to welcome all the fans who participated tonight into the Guinness World Records family.”
Houston-based Reliant Energy provides electricity to more than 1.5 million retail customers across Texas.

Sounds like some creative advertising.
