Hooray for Cherokee County. No longer the "sticks" with country bumpkins....Cherokee County School District just ranked first in metro Atlanta for SAT scores. The district now has higher scores than Fulton, Gwinnett, Cobb, Fayette, Forsyth as well as City of Marietta. Etowah High school recently received the "Blue Ribbon" honors for schools of distinction in the nation. If Cherokee were its own state they would rank 15th in the COUNTRY versus the 48th ranking our state has for education. This is a huge selling tool.  Lastly, Etowah graduating seniors for 2010 received over 5 million dollars in scholarship funds with a graduating class in the mid 300's.  Finally we can go out and sell our County as a great place to get an education, and a great place bo buy a home and raise your family. Way to go Cherokee County Georgia!!!

With a recent HUD Mortgagee letter we were informed that FHA will be changing the upfront MIP from 2.25% to 1.%, however, the monthly MIP (Mortgage Insurance Premium) will be going from a factor of .55% per month to .90% per month. The net effect of this change will be higher monthly mortgage payments, thus buyers qualifying for less of a home. What is our government thinking? How does this help the housing market? These changes take effect on October 4, 2010.
