Dinner with Penelope to Provide "haunted" Experience --- Winslow House for The Marshfield Mariner, August 1st, 2012Â
Penelope Pelham Winslow may be stopping by for dinner on Sunday, August 12th.Â The Winslow House has teamed up with The Bailey Pub, to provide a haunted and historical night for guests.Â The benefit for the Winslow House will highlight local legend Penelope Winslow.Â Penelope, who was daughter of Harvard College treasurer, Herbert Pelham, and wife of Plymouth Colony Governor Josiah Winslow --- is said to have become the mistress of her son's 1699 manor in death.
The event was the inspiration of Bill Bailey, owner of the Brant Rock restaurant.Â The history aficionado after hearing the tale was intrigued to investigate given the Pub's regular Tuesday night paranormal entertainment and happy to support the historical nonprofit.
Mediums will be on hand to lead guests in table-tipping sessions to explore the ghostly realm --- while Penelope's life will be highlighted with evening tours of the Winslow House.Â Guests will also enjoy a full buffet dinner provided by the Bailey and live music with Mike Reynolds.
The dinner will take place at 6 p.m. on August 12th.Â Reservations are required.Â Tickets are $35/person and may be purchased at The Bailey, Buckles and Boards and the Winslow House or at www.winslowhouse.org.Â Â
