Every coach in the Atlantic Coast League will say that it’s not easy to win the league title. A combination of strong teams on the Cape coupled with a group of South Shore teams can beat each other on any given night.
The Rams, however, proved too tough for their ACL opponents this season, and with Saturday’s 3-1 win over Dennis-Yarmouth, they won the 2011/12 Atlantic Coast League title. The win upped their ACL record to 10-1-1 and their overall record to 15-2-1. They are currently the No. 9 team in the state.
In the win over the Dolphins on Saturday, Pat Burchill, Matt Burchill, and Joe Admirand scored one goal each for Marshfield. Mike Carbone, Kevin McDougall, Trevor Salmon, and Pat Shea had assists, and goalie Kyle Moran earned the win in net, making 15 saves.
Prior to beating D-Y, the Rams topped Xaverian, 3-1, getting a goal each from Admirand, Carbone, and Connor McLean. Admirand added two assists, while Carbone, Matt Burchill, and Brennan Quackenbush each picked up one assist. Moran made 15 saves for the win.
