Less than 40 people at an open house ?Â
Where have all the buyers gone?Â
In the last few weeks it's been quieter than usual around the DC area with regard to open houses and showings  . It's not something agents or sellers  are used to , especially now- heading interest rates are crazy, crazy  low and inventory is pretty good. So, what's contributing to the less than out typical  'normal frenzied ' market?Â
It's an pattern that I've  seen in some form  nearly every year around this time. Folks are settling in to a somewhat different routine after a glorious summer where weekends were spent escaping to the beach, attending  weddings or heading out for a that favorite late summer trip.Â
Labor day comes with lots of messages. It  signals that it's time for the  the kids to get  back to  school, and even for those without kids- all will testify that traffic and work all seem to feel different as the daylight slips away sooner than we'd like. We settle into seeing more folks around the office, more meetings being held and of course there's back to school, back to class and back to ' real' life. But in another week, this will all be a memory.Â
Soon it will be time to hit the open houses and  restart that search for that super new place that will give you the space you need to  host your  holiday party! The days will start to cool and the air will energize us with that wonderful crisp feeling that is the harbinger of changing leaves and dropping temperatures- but also of carving pumpkins, nights by the fire and skating on the mall.
As you fight to cram that giant puffer  coat in to the too small closet you'll once again be reminded that it might just be time to see what's out there that might make coming home at day's end a bit more pleasurable.Â
After all-you've had time to relax and now it's time to get back to business.Â
