Starting to Search for Your New Home?

Home Buying Tips
Design Your Rollercoaster

Buying your first home is an exciting and anxious experience! At any age it can be a nerve racking adventure with seemingly unknowns at every turn spelled out in a foreign language! Earnest Money, Escrow, Closing Costs…  but with a few simple targets you can be in charge of designing your own rollercoaster.

Target One – Decide What You Want.

Really this is the Hardest part of home buying! Take some time to really determine a rough idea of what you need versus what you want. Do your research! There are so many options it can be overwhelming and disappointing to start shopping blindly. Determine what you live with now you could not live without and take it from there!

Target Two – Determine What You Can Afford.

Now you have an idea of what you must have … you will know what you may be willing to compromise to fit the budget! Meet with a lender or mortgage broker to determine what you can afford! There are a wide number of loan options out there but just like shoes only a few fit best. Save your stress and go prepared with documents needed in hand!

Target Three – Locate Home.

With a good idea of your needs and your budget a real estate agent is able to really target in and find your new home! It is all about fun when you are able to focus on finding the best balance rather than shooting in the dark.

With your targets hit you are now ready for the second ride negotiating an offer!  Rely on your lender and agent to translate the vocabulary. This is a “hurry up and wait” process like finding the home but with good communication you will know what to expect around the next corner!
