Sanibel real estate blog: Florida’s housing market momentum continues

September 26th, 2012

With the release of the most recent figures from the Florida Association of  Realtors, we find housing market is continuing its momentum.

Closed sales are up in both the single family home category and the condo category. Homes sales were up 10.8% in August, with a total of 18,669 single-family homes sold statewide. Condo sales were up 5.7% over last August, for a total of 8767 condos sold.

Median home prices are up too! The single family home price was up 5.8% over a year ago, with the new median single-family home @ $147,000. The new median sales price on condo in Florida is $ 102,980, up 5.7% over last August. The nationwide median sales price on a condo is $180,700. So, come enjoy the sun- and still at a price below half the condos in the nation.

Pending sales are really crazy-up 40% over last year at this time. IT all seems to be very good news for the Florida housing market.
