Working Hard for the Money
I have to admit something. When I was a custom home builder, and we had realtors bringing us buyers for our homes, I always thought those agents made way too much money. I thought their jobs were super easy and they didn't really earn those sizeable paychecks. Boy, was I wrong!
Now that I'm a realtor, I can tell you that I work very, very hard for my clients. And most of the realtors I know work just as hard. Its one of the only jobs that you spend a lot of money getting clients, and taking care of our clients, and don't get paid a dime until (and if) it closes.Â
I recently met with a potential client for a listing appointment. The people were just lovely, but they were trying to convince me to discount my commission. That seemed to be the deciding factor for them in choosing the realtor who would sell their home.Â
I certainly understand trying to get a deal. I mean, who wants to pay full price for anything if it can be avoided?Â
But the way I see it is this. For most people, buying a home is the greatest investment they will ever make in their lifetime. Do you really want a discounted realtor representing you in such an important transaction? Or do you want someone who is a true professional, who values their time as much as they value yours, works hard for you, looks out for your best interests, and helps and assists you every step of the way, knowing they will be paid fairly for their professional services?
Seems like a no-brainer to me!Â
