It comes as no surprise that Maryland’s very own “Heart of Harford” has a mantra that coincides with the slogan of “Safety First.”   Bel Air is one of those exclusive small towns that maintains a strong sense of community pride among its residents.

Close knit is the best way to describe this town, whose affluence, although apparent, is one that is out shined by the town’s charming nature.   The residents of the community play an integral role in maintaining its safety and quality of life.

In 1998, one of the quintessential gems of the community was created – The Greater Bel Air Community Foundation, Inc.  Due in part to the residents and local businesses, the foundation was created to improve the community’s amenities and quality of life.  More often than not, the work of The Greater Bel Air Community Foundation has been a collaboration of all of the residents in the town.

Throughout the year, the community foundation works towards raising funds to support local community groups and organizations while simultaneously funding civic improvements and features of Bel Air at large.

Two of the key fundraising events that foster the sense of community and safety is the Annual Golf Classic and the Annual Shrimp Feast/Bull Roast.  Both events are usually held at the Bel Air Reckord Armory and all of the proceeds go to the Town of Bel Air, a charitable cause in Hartford County or an International charity.
