The Township of Weehawken has its own public school system for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The 2007-2008 school year had a total enrollment of 1,166 students and 93 classroom teachers between all schools in the system, for a student-teacher ratio of 12.5. There are two elementary schools, Daniel Webster School (grades K-2) and Theodore Roosevelt School (grades 3-6), and one high school, Weehawken High School, which is for grades 7-12.
According to NJ Monthly for 2010, Weehawken ranks at 104 out of 322 public schools in New Jersey. The Weehawken School District website displays the percent of students that attainted high standards of proficiency in reading and math through standardized testing, and the percents ranged from 90 to 100 percent for grades 3-11. Weehawken also offers special academic programs for students aiming for Ivy League acceptance or very serious about attending college, these are also listen on the Weehawken School District website, and include The Masters Academy and The Collegiate Academy. The Career Academy is available to students interested in furthering their education in career, business, and technical areas.
Weehawken Township does not have any private schools, but many of the surrounding towns in Hudson County including Hoboken, Jersey City, North Bergen, and Union City have private and parochial schools available to Hudson County residents.
