Metro Phoenix top home sales of the week

The head of an international probate-research firm, the owner of a horse ranch, the president of a manufacturing company, an orthopedic surgeon, an Arizona philanthropist and icon, a Chicago floor trader and a Colorado doctor are among the buyers and sellers in this week's priciest home sales.

$5,250,000.

Jeffrey L. Kemp, president of Kemp & Associates in Salt Lake City, purchased a new six-bedroom, eight-bath, 11,536-square-foot home with heated pool and spa and separate guest house on the eastern side of the Silverleaf Club in Scottsdale. The Ranch Hacienda style home includes fireplaces in the family room, living room and master bedroom, and a gas exterior fireplace. Other rooms include a den/office, basement, bonus/game room and media room. The home was sold by Ashley Dorrance Baiker, as Trustee of the Ashley Dorrance Baiker Trust. She paid $7.75 million for the estate in January 2009.

$2,250,000.

Jeffrey David Ross and his wife, Deborah, from Calgary, Alberta, paid cash for a 7,637-square-foot home with pool built in 2004 at Arrowhead Acres in Paradise Valley. The home was sold by Darl Platt, as executive vice president, and David Jensen, as an officer, of Valley Oaks Financial Corp. of San Diego.

$1,575,000.

Clint B. Tinker, president/ owner of Optiforms, as Trustee of the Clint B. Tinker Trust, paid cash for a 6,902-square-foot home with pool built in 1994 at Ahwatukee Custom Estates in Phoenix. The home was sold by Bernadette A. Wolfswinkel.

$1,495,000.

Maxwell Thomas, an orthopedic surgeon, and his wife, Heather, purchased a 7,173-square-foot home with 650-square-foot pool built in 1992 at Ahwatukee Custom Estates in Phoenix. The home was sold by Ira A. Fulton and his wife Mary, as Trustees of the Ira A. and Mary Lou Fulton Family Trust. Ira Fulton is an Arizona philanthropist, land developer and businessman.

$1,425,000.

Robert L. Haworth, a CPA and director at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, and his wife, Joyce, bought a 5,783-square-foot home with 750-square-foot pool built in 2004 at Eagle Mountain in Fountain Hills. The home was sold by David W. Harris and his wife, Nancy. Dr. David Harris practices obstetrics and gynecology in Aurora, Colo.
