Falmouth does not need another high cost high risk development

Falmouth does not need another high cost high risk development

When you take into consideration the $2,000,000 we have spent to acquier the Spring Bars road parcel and the projected cost to bring utilities to the site of over $1,000,000, it does not make sense for the town to enter into another high risk high cost development project. On its face value the project is not feasible. Granted where there is a Will, there is a Way and with the assistance of LIHTC and the ability of turning a blind eye to Federal guidelines and the Smart Growth approaches of hazard mitigation and reduction of development in the flood plain, We may be able to overcome the issues that this site present to development, however in my view we should consider transferring any developments the site has to a more suitable site and use this site as a park and sea level rise and storm surge mitigation area.
