With all this great weather it is the perfect time to be outside in Colorado. I thought I would share with you some of the parks around the Denver Metro Area that are great to spend some of your leisure time at.
Denver- The city of Denver has just over 200 parks not to mention the river and trail areas that we can use. In addition to all the usual activities that happen at parks such as picnics, playing sports with your friends and fun in at the playground; you can rent paddle boats at City Park, Wash Park, and Berkley Park. You can find fountains at all of these parks: Babi Yar Park, Centennial Park, Central Park, Cheesman Park, City Park, Civic Center Park, Creekfront Park, Eastside Park, Greenway Park, Hungarian Freedom Park, Pioneers Monument Park, Richthofen Memorial Fountain Park, and Skyline Park. One of my favorites is The Electric Prismatic Fountain in City Park it even includes a light show after dusk until 11pm.
Aurora- The city of Aurora, Colorado has just over 100 parks in addition to 6,000 acres of open space for us to explore. Some of the parks to check out this summer are: Aurora Reservoir that boasts many activities which include: archery, 8 mile Trail, fishing, non-motorized boating, swimming, and windsurfing. Expo Park were you can play baseball/softball, basketball, 18 hole disc golf, football and tennis. One of my favorites is the Great Plains Park. It features a water spray ground, in addition to baseball/softball diamond, basketball half court, soccer field and trails that run through the Conservatory neighborhood. We can’t forget Wheel Park where you can bring your bikes, roller skates or anything with wheels to play. At the park you can use the BMX track, skateboard bowl, inline hockey rinks.
I encourage you to get out there and see the many parks, open spaces and trail systems the Metro Area has to offer. Let me know what you find.
