I realize this has little bearing on the real estate market at the moment, however, as my header states, I feel strongly based on my own history that a dog can certainly bring your home to life!
I want to make it fresh in anyone's mind who might be contemplating such an addition to their family or homestead to consider the upcoming events. Stray dogs are a huge issue in San Antonio-where the city is actively doing what it can to provide spay/neuter services to the many dogs that roam the streets...
Recently, I learned about an area of San Antonio, which is marked for significant redevelopment, where dogs are "dumped"- and left to fend for themselves. Due to the economy, many dogs are just abandoned on the streets. As a result, the "no kill" shelters are full, and cannot accept any more dogs.
I personally consider this a huge issue in many communities where I strongly encourage anyone considering a dog to go to the shelters FIRST! Simply put, you will not find a better dog than a shelter dog,
and puppy mills-excessive breeding need to be stopped. This is a big issue. Please share and spread the word to support your local shelters. And as a community, let's continue to have a dialogue about how we can collectively support fostering, adopting, spay-neuter services in every similar city faced with these challenges.
