Several weeks ago I attended a garden club event in Atlanta and the guest speaker talked of utilizing the backyard as if it was additional sq ft in the home. She suggested we install firepits or outdoor fireplaces for warmth and an extension of the kitchen for cooking of food, They were not
expensive by any means and yet created that look of custom made! Another idea was planting of greens that evoke spring look even in the dead of winter. Now I am all for greenry year round if the climate allows. Here in the south I have pansies of course, snap dragons and primrose blooming in the dead of January. They add to the curb appeal of a property. Â
When you are selling in the winter you have to do what ever it takes to appeal to beauty whether by flowers or firepits or even bird baths with fresh water. Take a look at nature and make certain you have covered that area because people do notice especially if someone is moving down from the north or midwest.
Another idea to increase value of your home is by planting a large tree this time of the year because mature trees add dollars to a property. They shade and protect against the elements of wind and rain and provide sanctuarys for birds and butterflies. Jaunuary is a great month to plant shrubs and trees. Make it a blooming day to sell!
