  • How do Home Buyers find out if their "Agent" is Licensed and if they're a Realtor?

If you're in the market to purchase a home, now is as good of a time as any!  With values finally coming back down to Earth, owning a home has become more affordable than anytime in the new millenium.

However, being a new home shopper comes with its pros and cons.

    "What can I afford?"

    "Where should I buy?"

    "Should I use a Realtor?"

    "What Realtor should I use?"

And the list of uncertainties can go on for days..... That's when a professional Realtor is truly going to shine & help answer ALL those questions!

As a reader of mine, you know I recommend that all Buyers & Sellers alike are certainly far better off using a professional agent with a sense of the local market (go ahead, click it!  It's a link to an article on WHY you should use a Realtor).  Most credible agents will also be Realtors, having joined a local Realtor Association.  Greater Tampa Association of Realtors (GTAR) is the largest local Realtor "board" in the Bay Area.

As a prospective home buyer in today's market, you need to make sure that your Agent is licensed & that they're a Realtor, thus being held to the Realtor's Code of Ethics.  You can easily check these things via online sites, which are secure and anonymous, so you can have your research done without any pressure by visiting the Division of Business and Professional Regulation's (DBPR) website, the local Realtor's Association (GTAR), and the National Association of Reatlors (NAR).

Here are the links for your searching methods:

    • DBPR - Check an Agent's License

    • GTAR - Find a Realtor

    • NAR - Find a Realtor

An example would be to click on any of the links, and input "Parker" for Realtor's Last Name, "Ira" for Realtor's First Name and "Madison" for Firm or Brokerage Name.  Here is what would be found on the Divison of Business and Professional Regulation's website:

    Ira Parker, P.A.

Here's what you would find on GTAR:

    Ira Parker PA
    Madison Real Estate Group LLC

    19790 Southern Hills Blvd.

    Brooksville, FL 34601

    Phone: 352-345-4843

    Fax: 813-200-3090

    Email: JoshParker622@aol.com

If you need any assistance in finding or selling a home, a true professional is going to be registered on all these sites, have an active license, and have no negative complaints listed against them!

Here's to hoping you have a wonderful experience with your Realtor!
