Deltaville in Middlesex county, is a hidden treasure on the Bay. The county is a peninsula surrounded by the Rappahannock river to the North and the Piankatank river to the South with the Chesapeake Bay straight ahead at Deltaville. To begin it was a playground for Capt. John Smith and Pocahontas. It is where he was stung by a stingray and sent back to England to recover and Stingray Point the county's most easterly bayside was named. Around 1905 Deltaville became known as the boat building capital of the lower Chesapeake Bay. Today there are 14 marinas to accomodate the multitude of sailors and fisherone's delights. Still, there are only 2 stoplights in the whole county! It is a true step back in time. We are being discovered for the lifestyle and waterfront real estate. Prices remain stable and incredibly lower than our Eastern shore of Va or Md neighbors. Tax rate is a mere 35 cents per $100.
