Writer Steve Alldredge recently spent an afternoon with Greg Rulon, a longtime Snowmass Village resident and businessman, for a special Business Spotlight piece in the Snowmass Sun. Alldredge’s article touches upon Rulon’s biography and his professional career, but also underlines his lifelong commitment of service within the Snowmass Village community.
Since arriving in Snowmass Village in 1972 at the age of 22, along with 25 of his closest friends, Rulon has worn a number of hats. From appliance repairman to sheriff and finally to real estate broker, Rulon has spent the last forty-years getting to know the ins and outs of every closet, corner, refrigerator and cul-de-sac in the Snowmass Village community.
While Rulon has learned about Snowmass Village and its residents, he has been on his own journey of self-discovery as well. Since coming to live in Snowmass Village, he has discovered his own deep love for skiing, wine and technology. Perhaps most important of all of his discoveries, Rulon found his life partner and wife, Patti in Snowmass Village.
Together they have built an incredible life and successful business in the remarkable Snowmass Village. Deeply grateful to the community that has embraced him and his family, supporting him throughout the years; Rulon has spent a number of years giving back. He has served on the homeowner’s association board, the fire district board and has been an active member in the Snowmass Village Rotary Club for 15 years.
His sense of humor shines through as he laughs about the irony of his days as an appliance repairman, remarking, “I can’t fix anything with my hands. My tool chest is a small kitchen drawer.†He seems far more comfortable, and better suited in his Snowmass Center real estate office in the heart of Snowmass Village. This location has allowed Rulon to be more than just a real estate broker, it has enabled him to interact with locals and visitors on a daily basis, engaging with them, trading news and catching a bite to eat together now and then.
Just when it seemed that Joshua Company could not possibly be more integrated within the community, they have expanded their office operations to include a full range of concierge and personal services. Today, with his fingers on the pulse of virtually every aspect of the community, Greg Rulon offers his own perspective on the real estate market in the area. He is quoted in the Alldredge article saying, “It’s been a long darn four years…now, we have readjusted prices to a reasonable number on most properties. I think sellers are realistic and buyers are now beginning to realize the opportunities that are out there, so we’re just starting to see renewed interest and increased sales.
If anyone would know what is truly going on in the real estate market, that person is Greg Rulon. Spend an afternoon with him yourself while touring homes, condos and investment properties in Snowmass Village. You may get more than a new, beautiful home out of the deal – you may just be getting a key connection to the community, and more than likely – a new friend.
