I love Los Angeles, but our public
transportation is sub-par when compared to NYC. All this may be
starting to change as work on the Expo Light Rail is being completed.Â
In Santa Monica this week, at 4th and Colorado, Phase 2 of the Light
Rail broke ground.Â
- Phase 1 - A Downtown Los Angeles to Culver City line, 8.6 miles, is completed with stops at La Brea and La Cienega.Â
- Phase 1 is going through testing and SHOULD open at the end of this year or early part of 2012.
- Phase 2 - A 6.6 mile extension to Santa Monica, through Cheviot
Hills. Homeowners in Cheviot Hills and Rancho Park are creating
opposition, but the MTA feels they have a good grip on the issues and
expect to move forward without problems.
- Phase 2 completion scheduled for 2015.
There are pros and cons to having public transportation pass through
your neighborhood. What do you think? Would it add to or detract from
your home's value? Time will tell!
If you have any info to add to the development of the light rail, I'd love you to leave a comment. So many of us are aware of the Light Rail, but most are unaware of where things stand with regard to the exact route. Please share!
