(Killeen) - The big picture for Killeen is better than across the nation. Though there have been some business closures and downsizing in Central Texas, population growth, commercial development and Fort Hood are helping maintain a balance, Workforce Solutions of Central Texas Director Jerry Haisler said. Haisler said the center is busy with new business prospects and filling job orders for employers.
Haisler said he knows of some layoffs in Central Texas cities, but not any in Killeen. Haisler said residential buildup has slowed down but commercial has remained steady. "People have the ability to get funds for commercial development. Our banks are always conservative and make good loans."
