Today I take the time to reflect on the service that my family gave for this Great Nation. They all came back safely but a great many did not.  Let us honor them all!

My family served this Country in the Civil War (my Great, Great, Great Grandfather-John P Sutton), WW1 (my Grandfather-Ralph W Sponseller), WW2 (my father-Ralph W Sponseller Jr.), the Vietnam Era (Myself and my Wife-Fredrick and Donna Sponseller) and Today (our Son is on Active Duty-Hugh Sponseller.

”Today we remember what took place 12 years ago.  The world changed and not for the better.  Man needs to repair its social fabric to bring trust, honor, and just common sense back into vogue.  Hate and murder, must not be allowed to run our lives.”  Fred

“In a moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing.  The worst thing you can do is nothing.”  Theodore Roosevelt  “Procrastination causes more problems than action.”  (Fred)

“A person who won’t read has no advantage over one who can’t read.”  Mark Twain  “The love of reading should be taught to all children if at all possible.”

Today we celebrate Veterans Day.  The day became a Holiday after WWI, as Germany surrendered on November 11, 1918.  It was “The War To End All Wars.”  We all know it was not to be.  So today we celebrate all those who have served to keep this country Free, from the Revolutionary War to Afghanistan.  To all those who Served—We Salute You!

In politics… never retreat, never retract… never admit a mistake.”  Napoleon Bonaparte “It is unfortunate that our Congress has this emblazoned in their creed.”  (Fred)

Today is Election Day.  This is a very important election.  Your duty as a citizen is to VOTE--many lives were given so that you can VOTE.  Only if you VOTE can you complain about the outcome.  On a Partisan note—vote the incumbents out—they have done nothing for us and think only of themselves, it is time to start anew!

Today we will update you on Sandy in Laurel, DE.  We were very very lucky to not have lost power.  We had no large trees down on the property, but many are waterlogged.  More heavy winds might change that.  The small stream behind our home is now a small lake but still away from the house.  Fred

Today’s food for thought from John Stuart Mill:  “Whatever crushes individuality is despotism, no matter what name it is called.”   “My take on despotism is when someone or some entity forces their views on your behavior.”  Fred
