Thanks for the advice! I am always impressed with people who are willing to take the time to share their expertise. I am a newer agent and definitely new to blogging and all this online exposure. You can be assured once I become and "expert" I will be happy to pass on any information as well.

Thanks Again,

Thanks Frances. I enjoyed your class. What seemed so simple and clear in class is very different when one starts actually doing it. I have written two blogs posts and am very intimidated by all this. Just like anything else I intend to "Just do it' I am a reasonably new agent and learning something new everyday.

Thank you

Thank you for this advice. This is the first time I am using Trulia and I have never written a blog before . I am wading into waters I never tried before. I read almost everything I can to help my clients look for their home, be it a condo or a family home. I have a few investors I am working with also and this would be a great way to get their houses sold as well as people having a hard time with their mortgages and tryng to get back on track.
Thanks again.

Karen, Thanks for the kind words ... I look forward to seeing what you do with your blog.

Genevieve, It was wonderful meeting you in Port Charlotte. What a wonderful group!!! After reading your blog I can tell that I have to see Punta Gorda the next time I am in Florida 8-)

Jacqueline, A blog comment is a great first step! Next step is an answer to a consumer question ... and then a blog post ... and don't forget to send me a link!

Luetta, Your blog is WONDERFUL ... thanks for sharing such a high level of creativity and real estate expertise. It was great meeting you in Williams!

Well, I disagree with you Frances. Everyone would like to think they have something important to say, but not everyone should be blogging. Writing is a talent and most on the web seem in lack of it - some writing on real estate matters more often are in such a rush to give an answer - they don't even know the question. It is far better to keep your mouth shut and let everyone think you are stupid than to open it and remove all doubt. Show me two successful real estate sales you have had from blogging, or, the alphabit at the end of your name and maybe I will change my mind on this subject. But, for me, all I see is a bunch of jackals jumping on each others advice to consumers that will never become their client. Just because something is easy doesn't mean that it is the right thing to do. Save your time and energy and go back to the basics of sales.

Gregory, agree that not all people can write well or coherently and should probably not respond to these items. However, esposure and getting your name out is good and one of the basics in real estate. That said, if you are one of those individuals proving your lack of knowledge and experience to everyone - stop it! You need to use spell check Gregory. I think that alphabit is a cereal, and alphabet is a series of letters. Terry Snith

Thanks Frances. I've not used Trulia and it sounds as though there might be some merit there. Thanks for taking the time!

Thanks for pointing out my deliberate spelling of the group of letters often found at the end of real estate agents name. Some think they deserve some special recognition like a PhD or esq. But, I do think of them as cereal or soup and feel the general public would be wise to treat them as such. I don't know what esposure you are seeking on the internet. However, I wish you had placed more of a challenge to my remarks about jackals. Maybe next time? Keep Blogging.

Blogging is an excellent tool that most agents can use to issue transparency to their online presence. Bloggers share not just their successes, they share their frustrations as well. 'A blog is a great platform to discuss the state of the industry and a person's state of mind, sharing joys and fears and making a very personal connection with blog readers.

A blogger does not have to be an Ernest Heminway to be successful.

Many bloggers see increased business and there are numerous testimonials and success stories. We are collecting numerous testimonials for a new page at Trulia ... agents are quite happy to be working with new buyers and sellers as a direct result of their postings on Trulia Voices and Trulia Blogs.

Agents who inspire, who draw smiles, and share rich information that consumers seek are most likely to win the bounty of the Net.
Frances, Thank you for this site, what a wonderful way to connect with potential clients and to learn from other professionals. I've only posted three times so far and I just wrote an offer to buy for a couple who liked one of my responses. They weren't the person asking a question, they were just reading. Even if they were just looking and not actually buying, I am so happy to have met them. They're such fun people, I think were going to be friends for a very long time.

Isn't Trulia not supposed to be used as a marketing tool?
By Frances Flynn Thorsen,  Fri Dec 26 2008, 10:25
Trulia is certainly a marketing tool! The confusion arises among both consumers and real estate professionals about the appropriateness of different types of postings.

1. Property listings are the main staple of Trulia surfers. Property listings are submitted by agents and brokers, multiple listings services, and real estate brands. Marketing is the name of the game!

2. Trulia Voices Q and A is a conversational medium where information is key, and solicitation ideally is minimal. Real estate consumers know that they can click a link for contact information for real estate professionals.

3. Trulia blogs offer more freedom of expression in narrative and additional marketing potential ... you are the "publisher" of your own blog' there is greater freedom of expression there.

4. Trulia PRO gives real estate professionals a chance to showcase their listings and construct Spotlgith ads in 20 market areas.
