Beware of rental scams!!!

Hello everyone,

I have to warn you about the rental scams where "supposed" owners post photos of homes for rent at a low attractive price.  Then they say they're in Africa due to  job relocation or something.  This actually happened to one of my rentals where the photos were copied and they posted a lower price to attract unsuspecting people.  If you do have their contact info like cellphone and address or bank information, go to the police department to report that immediately.

Please do not enterain the idea that they can mail or fedex out the keys to the house once you wire funds over.  Always check if the people you are talking to are legitimate.  Get business cards and ask questions that shows whether they know the area or not.  If they own the house, they should know the neighborhood.  Ask the neighbors if such person does exist.

These scammers will want to get your information such as the SSN, full name and address in order to steal your identity.  I'm really sorry how the web have caused such rampant crime and would like to know how this can be prevented in the future.

It's also happening in Atlanta. The scammers like to advertise on Craigslist.
