While "celebrity" may not be what you'd usually associate with the 75th U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, these days it's pretty much what Tim Geithner has become in the woe-stricken media coverage of our (=U.S.) economy.

Geithner is shedding his old "skin" in Larchmont, NY from his days as Pres of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in a "challenging" real estate market -- particularly for a $1.6M pad (over 45% higher than the average sales price in the same zip code) about one hour outside the Big Apple.

Don't be fooled by the humble facade though -- this 3,655 square foot Tudor-style pad has an oversized gourmet kitchen with all the expected glossy finishes (i.e. black granite countertops), backyard patio, renovated baths with modern tiling, wood flooring and classic french doors separating the main living space.  Between the multiple kids' bedrooms and the highly rate Larchmont schools, it's no surprise Geithner and wife Carole selected this pad in suburbia to raise their kids.

Now let's hope the sale goes better than divvying up the bailout money.

32 Maple Hill Dr., Larchmont, NY
    $1,635,000
    5 bd / 4 ba / 3,665 sqft.
