Prospecting Even In The Cardiac Care Unit...OH YEA!!!

Well it's been a little while since my last post. Since that time I has a scary run in with the old (really not so old) ticker. After going to the doctor, then an enjoyable ambulance ride to North Shore Manhasset the diagnosis was nothing wrong with the heart. Acid reflux yes...but the heart is 100% ok!

So while I'm in the CCU my Cardiac care doctor comes in. After we went over the symptoms I was having, we began some small chit chat about different things. He asks me "What do you do for a living"? I said I'm a real estate agent. He says really?

Then he begins to tell me how he is planning on selling his home here and relocating to a bigger home. I said to him I would be happy to get in touch with him when I go home to see what we can do. Then...he was gone and we didn't even exchange any info yet.

When my wife was going home for the night I said to her "please bring me a few business cards". She said ARE YOU KIDDING! I said to her you never know. Now I sat for a while and thought to myself did I make a good impression on the doctor? Please keep in mind I'm a new agent and still looking for my first listing so a doctor at an area hospital is a HUGE thing for myself.

Later a nurse came in to check up on me and do the old blood pressure routine. As we began to talk she says"Oh yea, the doctor said that guys going to help me find a house". I was ecstatic.

So as my wife came in and waited for me to go to the examination room the doctors came in to wheel me to the testing area. As I'm being rolled out I see the doctor I had spoke to the prior day. I quickly reached into my gown top pocket and pulled out a business card and gave it to him as I was being wheeled past him.

He laughed and said thanks...I will be in touch. I turned to my wife and said see...you never know!

Good job! It does work!
I was getting a local anesthetic for a root canal. While numbing I asked (drooling a bit!) if he would buy a house from me since I needed to pay for his services! He laughed and said "actually" I am looking for a home! 4 months later I closed the transaction! Also found his receptionist a home 2 monts after that.
Once a Realtor, always a Realtor! Hope you're doing better!

Ed, that was a great story and yes you never know. Real Estate is a 24/7 occupation.
