Since I passed my NYS License exam back in October my goal was to do a few things to get ready for my first full year in real estate. First, and I guess this is something I will never start doing is researching the industry. Trends, things you should do and not do and any new ideas I can find in regards to marketing.
One of the things I did in 2010 was start a newsletter over the last month. My goal is two fold. The first is to get to know who the people in my neighborhood are. When I was walking the neighborhood trying to get donations for our annual Toys For Tots drive I realized that I really knew nobody on the neighborhood, So what I am doing now is this newsletter. I'm going to send it out every quarter and hopefully attract some interest from the neighborhood on events all of us neighbors are going through. Birthdays, anniversaries, promotions to name a few things that I cover in the newsletter.Â
My second goal for starting a neighborhood newsletter is getting referrals and hopefully direct business, Hopefully people that come and go in the neighborhood will think of me when they are looking to buy or sell. But either way its a good thing and a win / win for all.
The last goal I had for my short 2010 year was to get one listing appointment. Obviously I want to get the listing but at least get the experience of going through a house and sitting down with prospective clients. Well that happened on Dec 31st. In my next blog I will tell you all about that experience and boy…was it an experience!
