The Villages – Annual Property Taxes and Assessments

Property tax are based on the home’s current market value, adjusted for land value and qualified exemptions.  For the home buyer, the purchase price is the basis for home’s current market value.

For homes located in Marion and Sumter counties assessments can vary thousands of dollars, depending on where the home is located, and have "no relationship whatsoever to the home’s purchase price."
