Our winter on Beech Mountain was phenomenal. We had about eleven feet of snow this past season and winter sports at Ski Beech and other ski resorts in the area were the best we have seen in a few years.
Now our temperatures have moderated to 60s for the most part so we still have the cool breezes here, where our elevation ranges from about 3600' to over 5500'. Plenty of sun and rain has provided our mountain flowers, trees and shrubs to leaf out and bloom prolificly. It's a great time to be on Beech Mountain!
In addition, those that have already discovered Beech Mountain in the past are coming back to escape the heat and newcomers are awed by our climate and the many things that you can do here, where we are about 99% residential and have more roads and area than our nearest 'big' city of Boone, home of the Appalachian Mounteers at Appalachian State University.
With attractively priced lots, homes, condominium units and even a sprinkling of commercial properties, now is the time to buy on Beech Mountain. Although our market did not see a huge glut of properties or foreclosures hit the market, there are some foreclosures and potential short sales still available as well as some extremely attractive bargains that are competing with foreclosure prices. Our inventory is declining and both newcomers and investors are discovering the deals to be had on Beech Mountain.
Come hike and bike our trails, play indoor basketball and tennis at our multi-million dollar indoor/outdoor town recreation facility, canoe beautiful Buckeye Lake, attend one or more of the many summer concerts, street dances, community yard sales, bike races, cruise-ins, kite festivals, Land of Oz festivals and so many other things there are to do on Beech Mountain. Visit historic Fred's General Mercantile, stop by the Brick Oven to order the most awesome pizza (subs, sandwiches, pasta, ice cream, beers from all over the world and more are also on the menu) you've ever had while the kids enjoy the arcade or play mini golf, dine at Vasarelys, Beech Alpen Inn, Fred's Deli, That Pizza Place or ask how you can be a guest to tour the Beech Mountain Club which has three areas on the mountain providing a new swimming pool, children's day camp, computer and meeting rooms, tennis, fitness, ski house with eating facilities, golf, clubhouse dining, two outdoor cafes and more!
