Keys to selling a home


When deciding to sell your home the very first thing I tell people is to look around to see if any other neighborhoods or homes are of interest to them. This way they have an idea where we can look for a new home so that we are not crossing that bridge after we have contract.

 

 Secondly decide for the right reasons who you are going to list with, this is and could be the very thing that makes or breaks the whole experience. When choosing a realtor looking for brand recondition is not always the best way to choose. Many people think that if we list with the company that has a lot of signs in the area we will have a better luck. Mostly of the time that is the opposite result. Most of the large brokerages when you give a listing to them you are doing just that giving them the listing; they did not have to earn it so there is no sense of time is of the essence with them. So choose wisely.

 

Thirdly you should do some home work on the area, knowing what the neighbor’s home sold for will go along way to deciding with the agent what the price point should be. Keep in mind that many homes are not the same. When you are looking to list take a moment to write out all the improvements that you have made since you purchased the home or that have been done in recent years.

 

Fourth you should always use common sense when listing and looking at the area, if you know that your home is the white elephant on the block or over built for the area don’t expect that someone else will pay way more for your home because you love it that way.
