    Even as we get into 2011, the nation’s unemployment rates continue to top the headlines.     The requirements to qualify to take the Colorado real estate broker license examination are at 18 years old and of good character. Fingerprints will be used to conduct a criminal background check prior to issuance of a Colorado real estate broker license. A fingerprint card must be submitted along with the application. For a fee there is fingerprinting available onsite at testing centers. Illegal or unethical behaviors that are not disclosed on the Colorado real estate broker license application will result in the denial of your license. Proof of identity, citizenship, and residency will also be required to take the exam.

    The educational requirements to take the Colorado real estate broker license exam are outlined on the Colorado Department of Regulatory Affairs’ website. There are 48 real estate course hours required in each of the categories of real estate laws and practices and Colorado real estate contracts and regulations. Closings and brokerage administration will each be covered in 24 course hours, for a total of 48 hours. Practical applications will be covered in 32 course hours. Recordkeeping and trust accounts will be covered in an eight-hour course. Current legal issues are reviewed in an eight-hour course. Finally, there is the Colorado broker transition course. Once you have completed the course work and earned a successful final examination score, you will receive the education completion certificate required to be sent in with the Colorado real estate broker license exam application.

    The Colorado real estate broker license exam application and all required fees should be sent along with all other requirements to PSI licensure: certification. Once the application has been reviewed and processed, you will be issued an examination date. The Colorado real estate broker license examination is administered online through PSI testing facilities. The results of the exam will be available immediately upon conclusion of test. Once you have passed the Colorado real estate broker license exam, the final requirement to receiving your license will be securing an Errors and Omission insurance policy to protect you as a licensed real estate broker.

    There are online real estate courses available to meet all of the educational prerequisites, making starting a career in Colorado real estate easier than you could imagine. In just a couple of months, and for far less than the cost of a single college semester, you could be on the road to a fantastic career in Colorado real estate.
