The first Quarter was a bit slow. Cold winter in this area. The new President and Economy, Wars and other Major issues. But in late March it appeared to improve and seeing a bit more consumer confidence. Seller's are starting to realize that prices need to drop. It is NOT the same market we had a year ago, or even 3 years ago. Ups and Downs will always be there.
Some fellow Agents have not sold any homes all year ! Others are very busy, with deal after deal. Many state that getting and keeping a transaction together has become increasingly difficult.
With many major economic factors, Local and Federal Government departments, including schools are feeling the crunch. The auto industry is very important in this area. Before I became a REALTOR, I worked for a period as an Executive Recruiter. I was amazed after living in Fort Wayne much of my life, the huge impact our area is related to the Auto Industry. Many Plastic and Rubber companies as well as other auto suppliers in this region are heavily impacted with whatever the upcoming outcome for the Big 3 will be.
We are fortunate to have a newer and stronger General Motors in Allen County.
