  • Lush - Yelp review of the week

Posted Under: Quality of Life in Denver, Shopping & Local Amenities in Denver, In My Neighborhood in Denver  |  May 18, 2012 4:14 AM  |  166 views  |  No comments

This week we are going to see Yelp reviews of Lush, located at 3000 E 1st Ave, Ste 203, Denver, CO 80206. Lush believe in making effective products from fresh, organic fruit and vegetables, the finest essential oils and safe synthetics. They invent their own products and fragrances. They make them fresh by hand using little or no preservative or packaging, using only vegetarian ingredients, and tell you when they were made. They believe in buying ingredients only from companies that do not commission tests on animals and in testing our products on humans. They believe their products are good value, that they should make a profit and that the customer is always right.

Few of the top reviews are given below:

Claire from Denver, CO says, “All natural cosmetics, soaps, sprays, creams Heaven!!! Or should I say Haven! You must go here to try their all natural ingredients in their products!!!! It will do wonders to your skin and strays away from harsh chemicals. Your skin will thank you. Refreshing, glowing, rejuvenated! Madu will thank you! I totally recommend two products to try: peppercorn soap, this soap is perfect for the cold winter months. Moisturizers and the cool part keeps you warm, the peppercorn warms your skin after a shower. It's amazing!!!!! Cool effect! -all the face toners esp "A Breath of Fresh Air" These toners keep your face glowing, provides a cleansing effect under your skin/make up, allows pores to breathe. Honestly, without this ingenious product, I'd dry up!!! My pores have minimized, acne has disappeared and skin glows. It's somewhat pricey, varies. Customer service is so helpful and willing to keep you up to date on what their products are about. Great gift ideas inside too. Even some of their creams are edible!!!”

Chris from Denver, CO says, “I came here with my Sister for a free facial and consultation.  It was awesome! I learned a lot about my skin and what different products will do to my face.  Leslie helped me through the whole process and was very friendly! They sell a bunch of Men's products that are all amazing. I recommend this place for any dude who wants to have silky smooth skin, while you are there get some education on how to care for your skin! They sell lot's of cleansers and soap by the weight so you don't have to spend a lot to get what you want. They are also very friendly with giving away samples of item you'd like to try on your own terms. Great Place! will be back for that shaving lotion.”

  • Pride Auto Care - Yelp review of the week

Posted Under: Quality of Life in Englewood, Shopping & Local Amenities in Englewood, In My Neighborhood in Englewood  |  May 11, 2012 6:45 AM  |  192 views  |  No comments

This week we are going to see Yelp reviews of Pride Auto Care, located at 8787 E Dry Creek Road, Englewood, CO 80112. Pride Auto Care Complete Car & Truck Repair & Maintenance Auto Services is a Colorado family-owned and operated complete automotive service center. They have served their south Denver Metro neighborhoods for over 20 years with honesty, integrity and the best car care you can find. There comes a time when you just have to plant both feet solidly on the floor and say out loud, “By goodness, these people are good, honest folk. They take great care of me and my ride! Other folks should know about them.”

Few of the top reviews are given below:

Avijit from Littleton, CO says, “Met a bunch of folks here including Vince, Phil and Chris. On a professional side they know how to win customers and how to make them happy. I went with my 2006 Hyundai Azera, having issues with Check Engine light on due to faulty break switch. The issue triggered a couple of more lights on the dash. My concerns were handled by these great guys with utmost care and overall I am greatly satisfied by their service and btw, with a fully synthetic oil change i was given a free tire rotation for no extra cost. Guess all of us like freebies. Thanks guys. I really appreciate your service.”

Mike from Littleton, CO says, “Finding a decent auto repair place is like finding a decent dentist - even if you like them, you hate using them. That said, I got tired of the incredibly poor & expensive service I received from a local Mazda dealer, so I went on a hunt for a decent auto repair place. Much to my surprise, there were a lot of very positive comments on several review sites about Pride Auto. So, off I went to give them a shot. First, the front counter & waiting area is clean & tidy - something a little rare with repair shops. Second, the staff were very helpful, listened intently to my descriptions, said how long the diagnostics & estimate would take to put together, & even gave me a ride to work! Next came the repairs. They gave me a cost estimate, said how long it would take, & they beat both. Yes, under-promise & over-deliver from an auto repair shop - how novel! I highly recommend Pride Auto, an honest to goodness good & honest auto repair shop. Vince & Phil will definitely treat you right.”

  • Cherry Cricket - Yelp review of the week

Posted Under: Quality of Life in Denver, Shopping & Local Amenities in Denver, In My Neighborhood in Denver  |  April 27, 2012 7:23 AM  |  255 views  |  No comments

This week we are going to see Yelp reviews of Cherry Cricket, located at 2641 E 2nd Ave., Denver, CO 80206. The term “legendary” is overused these days. But the Cherry Cricket lives up to the lofty classification and the revered reputation it holds as a bastion of classic neighborhood-bar culture. The Cherry Cricket’s clientele includes working stiffs, old schoolers and shoppers taking a break from chic hunting. It also welcomes a younger crowd, business lunchers, and families who savor the aforementioned “legendary” status of the Cricket.

Few of the top reviews are given below:

Ericka from Denver, CO says, “Love this place. Good food, great service, and lots of variety. Also, the restaurant knows how to move people in and out, so even if there is a line..it goes fast.”

Michelle from Aurora, CO says, “Just what I wanted. Eating no bread for a week and pretty much just salads I wanted a juicy burger. That's exactly what I got and medium rare with bacon and green chili strips. Yum. Great fries to boot. Place was crowded but the wait was not too long. No wonder this has been a Cherry Creek favorite for as long as it has. With all the new and fancy burger places this is one of my favorites.”

Victoria from Colorado Springs, CO says, “Probably one of the best (non-fast food) burgers I've ever had. The meat was juicy, flavorful and cooked to perfection. I had mine topped with Swiss, mushrooms, grilled onions and avocado. I stole some of my boyfriend's jalapenos later since they were pretty mild. It was one of those situations where you are full but you keep eating because it's that good! I ordered onion rings which were tasty as well. The service was cordial and fast. The building doesn't match the surroundings (JW Marriott, Hermes down the street) but that just adds to its charm. If you have time, go across the street to the Cherry Creek Mall and work up your appetite. You'll want to finish your burger! I would definitely recommend coming here if you want a great burger. Adam Richman (Man vs Food)  did good on this one...Guy Fieri (Diner's Drive Ins and Dives) is still on my $H^% list! =)”

  • Red Rocks Park and Ampitheatre - Yelp review of the week

Posted Under: Quality of Life in Morrison, Parks & Recreation in Morrison, In My Neighborhood in Morrison  |  April 13, 2012 7:25 AM  |  240 views  |  No comments

This week we are going to see Yelp reviews of Red Rocks Park and Ampitheatre, located at 18300 W Alameda Pkwy, Morrison, CO 80465. Red Rocks Amphitheatre is a geological phenomenon – the only naturally-occurring, acoustically perfect amphitheatre in the world. From Sting and The Beatles, to opera stars and U2, every artist aspires to play on this magical, spiritual and emotional stage. Red Rocks Amphitheatre is owned and operated by the City and County of Denver’s Arts & Venues Division.

Few of the top reviews are given below:

Claire from Denver, CO says, “Breath taking! It's beautiful here!!! Everyone who visits Colorado must go here. I've never seen something so beautifully constructed by mother nature (besides grand canyon) but this is a sight to see. Two large monoliths (rock formations) enclose a beautiful amphitheater, which enables acoustics to generate magnificently throughout the theater. Open aired concerts, events and movies are played here from summer to fall. The seating was constructed like stairs not chairs. During weekends, the locals come use the stadium seating as exercise. They use the trails for hiking. The entire park is so amazing to take in, it's huge! I promise you, watching a concert here, is like nothing else. There is available parking in 3 areas, the bottom near the gift shop, the middle near the bridge (you can use the bridge to hike up to the lower part of the amphitheater) or the upper area (where it's easily accessible to the sights, museum and restaurant). The museum is very informative. Take a quick look, you'll find the music area interesting. There is a restaurant though it closes early. Good for brunch, lunch and late lunch.”

Louisa from Vernon Rockville, CT says, “Such a BEAUTIFUL place. The amphitheatre is HUGE. They have 70 rows of seats with 100+ seats per row. I went during the day to visit. There were so many people exercising at the amphitheatre. I was motivated to run too, if I had the proper attire. There are 390+ steps from the top of the amphitheatre to the Trading Post Road. 190+ stairs from the top of the amphitheatre to the stage. Excellent place to workout. Outdoor seating. Planning to come back for a show. Also, they have several trails in the park to hike. My husband and I went on the Trading Post Trail. Lots of scenery. Only 1.4 miles long. Beware, if you go downhill, you will need to eventually hike back uphill. Have on good shoes, a bottle of water, and sunblock. Has very minimal shade. Definitely a place to visit. The view is breath-taking.”

  • Omelette Parlor - Yelp review of the week

Posted Under: Quality of Life in Colorado Springs, Shopping & Local Amenities in Colorado Springs, In My Neighborhood in Colorado Springs  |  April 6, 2012 7:08 AM  |  215 views  |  No comments

This week we are going to see Yelp reviews of Omelette Parlor, located at 900 E Fillmore St., Colorado Springs, CO 80944. Treat your taste buds to everything that The Omelette Parlor has to offer. Their family-style restaurant serves up the best selection of delicious food and has delighted locals and visitors with its delicious breakfast menu, outstanding omelettes, sandwiches, and salads for a long time now.

Few of the top reviews are given below:

Nicole from Colorado Springs, CO says, “I love local breakfast places; I always prefer frequenting them over places like Denny's and IHOP. After reading some of the reviews of Omelette Parlor, I was afraid the wait would be ridiculous and the service would be bad. We arrived at 8 a.m. on a Sunday and didn't wait at all. Service was fantastic. Our server was always prompt with our coffee and our food came out quickly. And the food was awesome! I usually don't care much for omelettes, but these were delicious! I had the Great Chili cook-off with the spicy green chili. Absolutely delicious! The potatoes were ok, nothing to get excited about, but my omelette was probably one of the best I've ever had. My boyfriend had the Denver omelette and enjoyed his food as well. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy, and the inside is decorated to almost look like a small cottage. Definitely a place I will frequent again!”

Jim from Colorado Springs, CO says, “The Omellete Parlor is a family owned breakfast and lunch eatery serving the Colorado Springs area. We heard from friends after moving here a year ago it was the best breakfast in town, and they didn't disappoint. The large Omellete Parlor gets pretty busy on the weekends so expect a wait, and, don't trust what your hostess says. Ten minutes could be thirty, forty five minutes could be ten. Just wait it out. They also serve mimosas and Bloody Marys in the morning, which are large and delicious. They have quite an extensive menu, actually making it hard to choose what you want, and the interior decoration reminds me (a northern Midwesterner) of someones great grandmas house in the UP or Minnesota. We are fans, though they need experienced hosts at the front door. There is some seating to wait, and a little coffee bar to wake you up while waiting. It's overall a great place for a Sunday morning breakfast.”

  • Colorado Movers - Yelp review of the week

Posted Under: Quality of Life in Denver, In My Neighborhood in Denver, Moving in Denver  |  March 30, 2012 7:42 AM  |  274 views  |  No comments

This week we are going to see Yelp reviews of Colorado Movers, located at 4240 Clayton St., Denver, CO 80216. The Colorado Movers have a large fleet of clean, fully-equipped moving vans, trained, and courteous personnel, and a reputation for quality in our industry. Colorado Movers can be trusted to handle your move quickly, efficiently, safely, and of course economically. Colorado Movers is fully licensed and insured and provides free estimates, 24 hour residential and commercial service, wrapping and packing, and of course, quality equipment.

Few of the top reviews are given below:

Sarah from Denver, CO says, “After initially booking another moving company and then reading their terrible reviews here, we decided to give Colorado Movers a try based on their Yelp rating. We received an estimate ahead of time (a rep came out to our house to look at the items we have) and agreed to a flat rate for the move, understanding it would include one truck load. Looking back, I'm glad we did the flat rate (although it was a wash money-wise with the hourly rate), because I wasn't worried about time or how fast/slowly things were going. A crew of four guys (we were only expecting three) called to let us know they were on their way and showed up on time. All were professional and courteous, and had great attitudes throughout the day. Each of the guys worked incredibly hard to move our things quickly, but were also very careful not to damage anything. They packed the truck as tightly as possible to maximize what we could get in the load. When we realized it wasn't all going to fit, they offered to do another trip for a flat fee, which we felt was reasonable. The only damage we saw was a drawer that fell out of a dresser and cracked a bit, but that was more from being an old dresser than anything the movers did. We were impressed with this company's transparency (no hidden fees, no tricks, etc.) and especially the movers' hard work.  We'd use them again in a heart beat.”

Cameron from Denver, CO says, “I called these guys on Wednesday and spoke with Mark (The Boss) and was able to schedule a two man crew on Friday morning no problem. The crew on Friday morning was a little late but only because the locks on the moving truck were frozen. The moving guys called me, told me the situation, and were very apologetic about being late. They even gave me a third mover for free. Awesome!! The crew was professional, personable, and got the job done. The whole time they kept saying "we're gonna get you taken care of". They weren't lying. The prices are very fair and they don't milk the clock like other moving companies i've used. For your moving needs, go with Colorado Movers. Seriously!”

  • Penzeys Spices - Yelp review of the week

Posted Under: Quality of Life in Arvada, Shopping & Local Amenities in Arvada, In My Neighborhood in Arvada  |  March 23, 2012 7:05 AM  |  270 views  |  No comments

This week we are going to see Yelp reviews of Penzeys Spices, located at 7511 Grandview Ave., Arvada, CO 80001. Penzeys Spices years of selling spices have taught them that cooking is not a one size fits all world: far from it. They have learned the wonder of cooking lies in the incredible diversity of the people who cook, and in the incredible variety of the food they cook. People who share dinner together at the kitchen table go on to share a brighter future. A brighter future made possible by people with the kindness to build it one meal at a time. It is this kindness they celebrate, this kindness they hope to spread, this kindness that makes all who cook ONE.

Few of the top reviews are given below:

Mo from Denver, CO says, “Just a delightful little spice shop in Olde Town Arvada. Go for the olfactory experience ;) I get so bored with McCormicks & Mrs. Dash, but I get so confused trying to come up with what spices I should put on things. This place is so helpful for someone like me. I walked in looking for a gift box of spices. Simple enough, right? Pick one that sounds good and snag it off the shelf. That is just not the way things are done here. They want to make sure you are getting exactly what you want. The lady that helped me showed me the gift boxes in my price range and pointed out what some of them are used for. Then, when I picked one, she walked me around the store and had me smell each type of spice I had picked and filled me in on what they could be used for. Awesome! I was getting the gift for someone else, but had to have some of the fish spice for myself. I especially love that they have several specialty spices that are salt-free! And, most of their gift boxes include suggested uses for the spices and even recipes, yay! I shall never buy McCormicks or Mrs. Dash again! In fact, I may just bring my shopping list in here and let them tell me what I should have on what I am cooking, ha ha.”

Kristyn from Arvada, CO says, “Best spices I have ever purchased and always fantastic customer service. I will go no where else.”
