A very, very detailed story at Mission Loc@l has all the history behind the extra 20 feet in height accidentally allowed to the New Mission Theater condos. Among the revelations: the not-so-surprising fact that developer Gus Murad had been seeking the extra height since forEVER, and that city politicos have been "ping-ponging" back and forth between the shorter and taller height caps for just as long. No wonder they made that typo— no one could keep their numbers straight after all that. Supe Sean Elsbernd says there's still time over the next several years to get the height limit lowered... if people still care. [Mission Loc@l]
