Plywood Report: Nopalito, Bruno's, Sumi

Spot some fresh plywood on your block? You know what to do.

1) Western Addition: In the land that, depending on who you talk to, may or may not be called Nopa, Nopalito is getting close to its long-awaited debut. All the awnings are up, but there's still a wee bit of work to do on the interior. The latest estimate from Falletti's Plaza is that the last week of January or first week of February should see an opening of some sort. Bonus: the website is up. [POST-PLYWOOD]

2) The Fillmore: In the, uh, Jazz District, Bruno's has taken down its plywood exterior to reveal quite the shiny design within. It looks about ready to go (and as you can see above, is lit up at night), but sources at the restaurant say that it's still several weeks away. [PLYWOOD]

3) The Castro: Rounding out this edition of the Plywood Report is an update from Sumi on 18th Street. You'll recall that the place shuttered in December, and even though it was slated to reopen in its new sushi incarnation earlier this week, a tipster writes in to say that as of last night, it was still under paper. Signs on the exterior promise a January return, so they've got a week to fulfill the promise. Stay tuned. [PLYWOOD]
