Tyler Perry is My New Neighbor - Mogul Buys John's Creek Estate

As many of you have already heard, the actor/producer/director/ entertainment mogul behind the "Madea" series of movies and stageplays, TBS sitcoms “Meet the Browns” and “House of Payne,” just purchase the Dean Gardens estate in Johns Creek off of Old Alabama Road (only about 10-minutes from my house)! Designed by Atlanta's premire architect, Bill Harrison, the 32,000 sq/ft mansion sits on over 58-acres of land and cost the mogol a whopping $7.6 million.  The property boasts a 3-acre manmade lake, two carriage house apartments, a caretaker cottages, an ampitheater, wedding chappel, an 18-hole golf course, fountains shipped from Italy, a conservatory, an Asian Tea Garden as well as lush French, Italian and English gardens with breath taking views.  In fact, according to sources, Perry's favorite features of this piece of real estate are the gardens and location along the Chattahoochee River.

The current mansion took four years to build and it is rumored that Mr.Perry plans to tear it down to construct his own dream home.  The mansion as it stands now is nothing short or amazing! Some of the interior features include Bulgarian crystal chandeliers, hand-painted fresco ceilings, marble columns from Monte Carlo, hand-carved mantles, soaring celings and a theater that mimics our very own Fox Theater in downtown Atlanta.  There is also a 1950's style ice cream parlor and an Egyptian bath. Flamboyant would be a good word to describe some of the finishing touches but the house is still simply majestic!  My entire house and backyard could probably fit in the foyer!  I'm easy to please; I would be happy to just take up residence in the carriage house.

This is a very exciting time for the City of Johns Creek.  Everyone hopes that Tyler Perry will become an active resident in town.  I wonder if I'll bump into Mr.Perry at Whole Foods...Hmmmmm, probably not!
