The YWCA of West Central Michigan has awarded Keller Williams Realtor Cheryl Grant the distinction of membership in its top donor program, the prestigious Grace Dyer Hunting Circle. Cheryl joins the ranks of the 10 top community givers, including Fifth Third Bank, Alticor Enterprises and Steelcase Inc., recognized for outstanding support of the YWCAs shelter, housing and counseling services for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence in the Grand Rapids area.
“It‘s heartening to see an individual make such a significant contribution that will literally help thousands of women and children move forward with their lives,†said Kelli Langan, Director of Development for the YWCA. “This kind of commitment and investment in our vision helps keep the lights on and provides the ability to deliver top-level therapeutic intervention for families in need.â€
Grant is a longtime supporter of YWCA programs. In 2007 she was a preferred sponsor of the Tribute event that honors local women who have contributed to the Grand Rapids and West Michigan community.
“As a Realtor, I‘m in the homes of many people who live and work in the Grand Rapids area. Many of my clients benefit from the programs offered by the YWCA. This is one of the ways I can give back to my clients and the West Michigan community.†Grant said.
The Grace Dyer Hunting Circle is named after Grace Dyer Hunting, one of the YWCA‘s early leaders. Hunting led the capital campaign in the early 1920‘s to build the current Sheldon Boulevard facility in downtown Grand Rapids.
The YWCA of West Central Michigan served more than 3,000 people last year through shelter, housing and crisis services and counseling.
