Thinking About Buying a Home

Mortgage loan qualificationIf you are thinking about buying a home in Birmingham Alabama, you'll want to be sure that first things come first.  Beside your real estate agent, your loan officer is the most important member of your home buying team.

Your Birmingham real estate agent will guide you through the process every step of the way, including helping you to identify a lender to secure your mortgage loan (or rather see if you can qualify for a mortgage loan).

Many buyers think that the process actually works best in reverse. That is, find a home and then find a loan.  But here's the biggest reason why finding a loan should come first:  what if you find the home of your dreams and then apply for a mortgage loan only to find out that you can't qualify for a mortgage loan at this time.

It can and will be quite the disappointment after you have expended so much time on the search and finally have your heart set on the home that you've set your sights on.

By having your real estate agent refer you to a lender, you can be assured that the lender is one in which the real estate agent has a good report with. That is so very important because you will want your lender and real estate agent to keep in constant communication with one another and that's not always the case when a lender and agent have never worked together before.  And particularly true if you've chosen an online lender for your mortgage loan.

So remember, first things first.  Secure a real estate agent to outline the process for you and secure a lender so that you'll know if you can qualify for a home and if so, for how much.
