Molly Ringwald’s “Sixteen Candles” House Hits The Market At $1.499 Million

You’ll want to celebrate your “sweet 16” all over again in this classic home.

What’s happening, hot stuff? Do you want to hang your hat in the same place as Molly Ringwald? Well, maybe today is your “sweet 16” too, because the Evanston, IL, home of Sixteen Candles character Samantha Baker has hit the market for $1.499 million, and it’s a beauty. While there have been multitudes of memorable homes for sale from our favorite flicks — the Home Alone house in nearby Winnetka, IL, is another fan favorite home used by filmmaker John Hughes — this one has certainly given us plenty of memories.

The home last sold back in June 2006 for $1.25 million to investment banker Stephen Miles and his family, according to Forbes. Let’s hope he didn’t forget any of their birthdays. Built in 1931, the three-story, 3,250-square-foot home is located on a quiet, tree-lined street in a highly coveted neighborhood. The six-bed, six-bath property welcomes guests in the traditional foyer, which continues into a stunning dining room and elegant living room, ideal for entertaining (or, you know, catching up on ’80s flicks). A wood-burning fireplace and intricate crown molding provide a regal yet cozy atmosphere perfect for any busy family. In the new kitchen, a breakfast room overlooks the lush backyard and terrace.

The first-floor family room is a great area for the family to spend time together, while the third floor offers more casual gathering space, including a media room and a large recreation room with a fireplace — not to mention the bedroom that served as Ringwald’s pink bedroom in the film! The home has beautifully updated bathrooms throughout and an attached two-car garage. Perfect for parking your oto-mo-biiiiiiile.

An outdoor kitchen and another wood-burning stone fireplace offer the opportunity for alfresco dining. On the veranda, comfortable seating in front of the outside television and patio area provides an inviting place to gather … or a place to hang out one-on-one with your own Jake Ryan.
