David Arquette Is Selling The Historic O’Melveny House

The “Scream” franchise star and ex-husband of Courteney Cox is selling the historic estate in Hancock Park.

Wacky actor David Arquette, known for his role as Deputy Dewey Riley in the Scream films, has listed a historic home for sale in Los Angeles, CA. He bought the architectural gem back in 2014 for $7.15 million. Now the property, which is known as the O’Melveny House, is back on the market after less than two years, with a price tag of $8.495 million.

A registered city landmark, the O’Melveny House was built in 1908 by famed architects Hunt, Eager & Burns. With seven beds and eight baths, the 9,708-square-foot English Craftsman–style house has been restored to its original glory, with grand formal living and entertaining areas. Guests enter a wood-paneled foyer, and the formal living room extends out to a spacious covered patio. A study, library, and formal dining room are preserved in classic turn-of-the-19th-century style, but with modern conveniences like a spacious kitchen and extensive storage seamlessly incorporated into the home. The home even took a step into the 21st century by integrating his-and-hers closets into the roomy master suite.

Located on a ¾-acre property that has rolling lawns, an outdoor fireplace, a meditation pond, and a swimming pool and spa, this home is a historic treasure smack-dab in one of the most memorable neighborhoods of Los Angeles. The O’Melveny House isn’t the first architecturally significant home David has owned. Back when he was married to Courteney, who is known for her vast home restoration skills, the couple owned an A. Quincy Jones–designed home in the Trousdale Estates.

No word on why David is moving on, but he definitely has some interesting career moves coming: He recently signed on to star in an Amazon children’s show called Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, according to The New York Times.
