Downtown Disney is beginning its transformation into the new Disney Springs dining-retail-entertainment district starting with a parking garage.
A portion of the lot along Buena Vista Drive will be fenced off for construction of the new garage and parking between Planet Hollywood and Splitsville, and will likely be off-limits sometime this week, Orlando Sentinel reports.

Downtown Disney officials told the Sentinel the existing lots should handle a normal day’s activity, but guests can find additional parking in lots across the street at the Casting building and the SunTrust bank building.
This is the first of two garages for the Disney Springs makeover and should be open by late 2014 or early 2015.
The Disney Springs project — expected to create 1,200 temporary construction jobs and 4,000 permanent jobs — will open in phases and is set for a 2016 completion. It will expand the existing Downtown Disney from 75 to more than 150 shopping, dining and entertainment venues, as previously reported by Orlando Business Journal.
