The $1.5 billion, 235-mile All Aboard Florida passenger rail is just one step away from finalizing its plan to connect Orlando to Miami.
After coming to an agreement with theFlorida Department of Transportation on Tuesday, the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority also gave the Coral Gables-based company the OK to lay tracks along the BeachLine Expressway,Orlando Sentinel reports.
Both the state and the expressway lease agreements are for 50 years, with an option to renew for another 49 years.
Now, the only deal still needed for the plan to become reality is with Orlando International Airport, the Sentinel reports. Representatives from All Aboard, which is owned by Coral Gables-based Florida East Coast Industries, will meet with airport officials on Friday to discuss the plan.
