Bank Owned and REO are the same type of property Carrie has given a good thumbnail of the issues. Purchasing bank owned properties has a few more hoops and usually involves bank specific paperwork that is quite different from the usual MLS or Realtor purchase agreements. Having a professional take you through the process make good sense and best of all typically costs the buyer zero commission.
