This weekend is the Austin Modern Home Tour. The tour takes place on Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 11 am to 6 pm. The tour is self-paced and self-driven, and features over 10 homes throughout the Austin area that highlight modern design and architecture.
The Austin Modern Home Tour was founded the GoodLife Team in 2009. In just 6 years, the tour has become one of the favorite Real Estate tours in the city with over 2,500 visitors for last year’s event.Â
Tickets to the tour are $30 in advance, or $40 if purchased on the tour day. Only ticket holders will be allowed access to the houses on the tour. Tickets may be purchased online, but must be picked up on Saturday starting at 11 am at one of the six Austin will-call locations. Children under 12 are allowed for free on the tour. More information or to purchase tickets click here. Â
The tour will feature a meet and greet at the Departure Lounge located at 311 West 5th. Those with wristbands can receive a complimentary cup of coffee as well as happy wine prices during tour hours. Various special guests will hold meet and greets throughout the day, including tour curator Ingrid Spencer, architect Travis Young, and tour founder Krisstina Wise.Â
Rules vary for each home on the tour, so be sure to respect each property's requests. For example, some homes will allow photography while others may not, and some homes may request that no shoes be allowed, or that booties be word over shoes to protect delicate surfaces in the property. Please be aware and dress accordingly. Also, please be sure to respect the homes and homeowners by not sitting on furniture or using restroom facilities in the homes while on the tour. Also, if you have little ones then please be sure to watch them carefully.Â
Street parking may be limited in the neighborhoods so car pooling is recommended.
