Wow - what a headline on the news I heard a couple days ago. This is going to be interesting. Can you imagine showing up to show an REO property and letting your clients in only to find a group of "occupy" demonstrators have moved in unannounced? That would top the list as one of the strangest things ever.
I really want to keep up with this issue and I hope my colleagues will keep me posted if they ever have any issues with this situation.
I personally show lots of REO homes to investors and first time buyers but I have yet to come across squatters or anything like that. I have heard rumors on the coconut telegraph of this happening to other agents, but thankfully nothing like this has happened to me yet.
Sometime when buyers want to see 10 - 15 houses in a day I personally don't have time to preview all the homes they want to look at so I can only imagine how embarrassing it would be for myself and my clients if we came across this situation.
So lets all keep our eyes and ears peeled out there.
If I come across any occupy movement people living in abandoned homes you can bet I will put out the word ASAP here in Active Rain to let all you know, and I hope you will all do the same for me.
