What do you want in a home?
KNOW WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU!
When looking to buy, you should definitely think seriously about what is important to you and your family in a home. What are your must-haves? What are your deal-breakers? What are the top 3 things that you cannot live without?
As silly as it sounds, you really want to have some sort of checklist with you when you are viewing homes. While looking at 8-10 properties, it can be challenging to remember what house had the amazing kitchen with the island, and which one had the finished basement that would be perfect for your pool table. With your checklist of WANTS, NEEDS, and MUST HAVES, you will be able to rank the homes according to what they offer to you and your family.
Here are some things to consider when pondering, "What do I want in a home?"
- LOCATION: City, neighborhood, school district, proximity to job(s)
- BEDS/BATHS: desired numbers
- GARAGE: how many cars, attached, detached
- BASEMENT: full/partial, finished/unfinished, walkout/cellar
- OVERALL CONDITION: fix-up, carpet, paint, kitchens/baths
