    ABOUT CARMEL

In April, 1837 the town of Bethlehem was laid out with a total of fourteen lots. The area, previously inhabited by Miami Indians, soon became inhabited by Quakers. That year, the first General Store was constructed. The town's first school house and post office were raised near the town's crossroads in 1845 and 1846. In 1874, a vote of the town's 45 residents changed the town's name to "Carmel."

Today, Carmel is a very affluent Indianapolis suburb noted for its many roundabouts.
A new water park and mega-fitness center in Carmel's Central Park opened in 2007. The Outdoor Aqua Park consists of two water slides, a drop slide, a diving board, a lazy river, and a kiddie pool. The fitness center consists of an indoor lap pool, a recreation pool with its own set of water slides, gymnasium, 1/8 mile indoor running track, and the Kids Zone childcare.

Carmel's newly-established Arts and Design District, designed to promote small business, is located near the center of old town Carmel. Soon to open is the Carmel City Center, which will feature 400,000 square feet of retail space, restaurants and office space. Its centerpiece is the 500-seat performing arts theater, outdoor amphitheater and 1,600-seat performance hall.

The Monon Trail is a bicycle trail that is part of the Rails-to-Trails movement. It runs from 10th near downtown Indianapolis through Broad Ripple and then crosses into Carmel at 96th to 146th Streets.

    ABOUT FISHERS

A diverse business economy, top-ranked educational institutions, vibrant cultural and recreational opportunities and championship sports teams are just some of the great characteristics of the Fishers area.

Located in Southeastern Hamilton County, Fishers sits just 15 miles northeast of Indianapolis, making it a very convenient place to live and do business. The Metropolitan Airport is nearby and you can reach the Indianapolis International Airport in 30 minutes.

Fishers' history begins in 1872 when Salathiel Fisher divided his land into town lots. The area was first called Fishers Station and Fishers Switch. During this time, new communities would spring up along railroads. Fishers was no exception, hence the early reference to a train station or switch. The Fishers Train Station today houses the Fishers Chamber of Commerce and the Hamilton County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

When it's time to relax, residents and visitors enjoy many entertainment venues nearby, such as taking in the sounds of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra playing outside on the prairie near the picturesque 18th century village of Conner Prairie Living History Museum. Other events include outdoor summer concerts at Town Hall, the Fishers Farmers Market featuring numerous vendors offering produce, flowers, original art and other goodies, the Fishers Freedom Festival.
