Atlanta Streets Alive
returns once more to take over the streets of Atlanta on Sunday,
September 28th from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. This year’s route will connect
five neighborhoods by opening the streets for all, crossing over the
Atlanta Beltline around the Historic Fourth Ward Park. The 4.5 mile path
begins off North Highland and will continue to Highland Avenue,
Boulevard, and North Avenue.
The free event transforms the streets of Atlanta into a public park
where Atlanta residents can bike, walk, rollerblade, and play their way
across the city! Atlanta Streets Alive is a celebration of what happens
on the streets when they are closed off to automobiles and open to
people. A favorite among the Atlanta community, the event transforms the
streets to make Atlanta a happier, healthier, and more sustainable
city. Evolving over the past 4 years, Atlanta Streets Alive is an
encouragement of healthy, active lifestyles—the vibrant street life that
comes out of a human-powered community!
Kick off the festivities with the Bicycle Parade lining up at 1:30
p.m between Virginia Avenue and Highland Avenue. The parade will course
clockwise through the 4.5 mile loop and end at Manuel’s Tavern. Everyone
is invited, and the first 100 people to arrive will receive free
mustaches! All ages are welcome.
